The Concept

Our goal is to provide a residence that fits the needs of busy graduate students and young professionals - the importance of which we understand very well! Considering the demanding schedule we ourselves are accustomed to, the residence will include complimentary weekly cleaning services to insure that all areas - including your own room, if desired - are kept immaculate. All fixed utilities, including sewer, high-speed wireless internet, HD cable television, trash, and sewer, are included in your rent so you won't have the hassle of remembering to pay bills. As mentioned, cleaning services and gym membership are provided free of charge. We also provide a variety of services which will be discussed at the link above.

We are ideally located at one of the most interesting towns near either UConn or Eastern - Coventry, CT. We encourage you to check out our website (links above) for more info on Coventry. Coventry is only 10 minutes to UConn, 13 to Eastern, 30 to either Hartford or Manchester. On the other hand, it has more going on that Storrs, CT, is safer than Willimantic, and has a character that big-chain dominated Manchester cannot replicate.

The residence itself is a 3,024 square foot, loft-like building. Every detail - down to each electrical wire - has been meticulously renovated to the most discerning specifications. The heating system is powered by an imported, top of the line, highly fuel efficient burner, coupled with brand new energy-efficient windows and 20 inches of fiberglass wool insulation in the attic. Every surface or aspect has been either completely renovated, newly replaced, or newly painted. All electrical fixtures and appliances are brand new, and a recent inspector proclaimed that he was quite impressed with every aspect.

Who We Are and Who We are Looking For

We understand how difficult it is to find time to socialize when working the hours of a graduate student or young professional. While the occasional trip to a relaxed tavern suits us fine, we are more interested in sitting back with a glass of wine or a good book. Both of us (graduate students at the University of Connecticut) have lived with others and on our own. We have found that we prefer to live with others, as it gives us a sense of a social life separate from school and people to come home and talk to at the end of the day.

At the same time, we are as concerned as anyone with the idea of "community living," as we have seen the other side of the issue as well. Privacy, cleanliness, safety, and especially atmosphere are important to us. After careful consideration, we have chosen features that we believe address the most significant concerns of community living. As for safety, in addition to the added safety of Coventry, we are chiefly concerned with recruiting friendly, down-to-earth people who are less interested in partying at this point in their lives, and would rather sit by a fireplace and engage in conversation. In other words, we are seeking those who are looking for a relaxed refuge, and it is more important to us to find the right people than to worry about having a vacant room.

You will be living with professionals screened carefully for their respect, responsibility, and professionalism. At over 3,000 square feet, while there is obviously plenty of room for more people, we have decided to absolutely cap the number living here to what, in our experience, has lead to the most social success. We have decided to only provide four rooms (one has already been taken) for rent to respectful, clean people who seem to fit best in this atmosphere. (We are willing to consider limiting the number of rental rooms to three, allowing us to have a more extravagant dining area, but only if we find two people willing to pay an increased rent of $1,500 each per month.) We will also be providing cleaning services which will keep the bathrooms, kitchen, floors, and all other common areas pristine, and no yard or maintenance work is asked of you. We also want to be overprepared in terms of convenience. The convenient and free-use laundry room will include two sets of washers and dryers so that you will never have to wait. In addition, your groceries will never be crowded, as two full refrigerators are provided (more on our grocery service below). The home will include a secluded and quiet, but bright and sunny 350 square foot library with individual desks for your personal work and business. Aside from the established office area, there is plenty of comfortable room for studying, work, and personal time.

The residence, incidentally, is beautiful. Based on the bedroom size and amenities, it also represents one of the most economic choices per square foot in this area. The downstairs is comprised of the over 1130 square feet (42 foot by 27 foot) grand living area complete with bright windows and hardwood floors. This newly renovated, modern building features a state-of-the art 280 square-foot chef's kitchen, complete with a wine cooler, brand new appliances, and granite counter tops. The furnishings will include a large plasma-screen television, elegant leather chairs, a contemporary fireplace, and tasteful, modern furnishings. Additionally, we are working on creating a marvelous outdoor patio area that will enhance the overall experience with more attention to relaxation, social activities, and outdoor fun. A fireplace, grill, eating area, and lounging areas are the goals of our outdoor work.

The recent renovation has left nothing to be desired - no expense was spared in the installation of a new boiler and other basics as well as touches of elegance. Since the renovation, it has not been occupied. It is our hope that every need you might have during your stay here will be accommodated by what we offer and have provided.

Each of our residents will have their own private room, furnished if desired, designed specifically for rest. Your desk, and all of your work, can be separately kept at your own private area in our large and private library/office room. Each bedroom also has its own lighted closet; your room therefore is intended to be used only for resting, dressing, and recreation. At about or over 170 square feet each, you should have no trouble fitting everything you need into our comfortable rooms.

One of the available bedrooms will have its own private bathroom. The other two available bedrooms are directly across from (a couple feet away from) their own shared bathroom (only shared by two rooms) privately located upstairs and away from social traffic. This bathroom has plenty of space for all of your needs is kept pristine with regular cleaning services. Additionally, there is another common powder room (half bathroom) on the main level so you will not have to travel upstairs to use the restroom.
