I'm selling a Vintage Metal Tyrolean Plaque, collected by my great grandfather during WW1. Grandmother left the following description on the back of the plaque (pictured). "This plaque was a mold in a Tyrolean village artisan shop in Austria - to make decorative pictures. When Grandpa (Koltai) came home to Hungary in the first world war, from the Italian front, he bought it in the Austrian Tyrol. The plaque is ca: 1918 - or earlier."
The plaque depticts a Tyrolean scene of a musician or instrument maker, appears to have the look and weight of bronze - but could be another treated metal. The frame is more recent, 1970's or so, and is 8 1/2"x11". The plaque itself is 8"x5 1/2". It is in perfect condition (no dents or scratches) and the picture does not do justice to the detail in the piece. This is not a giftshop fake - it's the real deal and would make a wonderful gift for someone who favors vintage Tyrolean art.
