Excellent and clean, ready to ride with one flaw. Not a cheap department store bike, from a pro bike shop. Honesty, but it is not all bad. The front derailleur grip shift cable has been disconnected, was hopelessly stuck due to improper original installation and I have currently placed the chain on the smallest front chain ring. However, I have found that most kids have a hard time with operating the front and rear derailleurs. The rear derailleur shift works perfectly. So your child will only have to shift the right side for the rear and switch from speeds 1 through 6. At this current setting, works great for most road riding, trails, but won't allow your child to go super high speed to get more wind down the hills. (perhaps a good thing) I have noticed so many bike shops especially on the Cape are now selling bikes with only 1 front chain ring so exactly what this bike is set up for. If you are good at installing cable, cable and housing for grip shift bikes available for as a little as 10-20$ on amazon. I can install a water bottle holder and Greenfield kickstand for an extra $10 if you wish. (sometimes kickstands do more harm than good) Here's the info about the bike:
16" frame, good for someone 5' 3" up to 5'8"
Quick release front tire and seat post
Shimano Cantiliver Brakes-stops on a dime-safe
Aluminum rims
All reflectors in place-safe
Kenda 26" bx 1.95" tires-excellent shape and tubes hold air perfectly

Although I am in Middlefield, about halfway between Harford and New Haven only about 5 minutes off I-91 Exit 20, I also have the opportunity to meet people each weekday afternoon (September-June) on the Hartford/West Hartford line.
