The Technical Development of Modern Aviation, by Ronald Miller (Author), David Sawers (Author). Hardcover by Praeger Publishers. First Edition – 1970. Library of Congress Catalog Card Number 74-101638. 351 Pages.
If you are interested in the development of airliners and airlines in the first 50 years (i.e. up to the late 60's) this is a great source book. It explains why different designs succeeded - why the DC3 was so hard to replace, why Jets displaced piston-engine aircraft so quickly etc. (economics my dear Watson). There is a lot of data on relative operating costs and a peek ahead to the likely impact of the wide-bodies about to come into service.
For the serious enthusiast this is a good buy.
The book is nice condition with the exception that the first page has a written remark and several pages have yellow-highlighting of interest, binding are tight and strong. Has numerous Black and White Photos.
