The Pungo 12 ft is the most popular choice for a good general kayak to go distance, around lakes, shoreline and rivers as it is very stable and Tracks amazingly better than most other kayaks. Shorter boats and with rounder bottoms tend to waddle like a duck and turn when you stop paddling WASTE ENERGY, while the Pungo, you stop paddling can go straight for another 10 to 20 feet on its own. Less effort paddling and more distance. wide open center for easy enter and exit. Not restricted.Good for long distance or float around n fish. Rudder has advantages for tracking and manuvering even when not using sail.
Rudder that lift and drop .Included is a Sail so if winds right you can sail it back or across the lake. has fiberglass on the underside of stern for protection as this part scrapes when you come ashore. I do this to all my Kayaks.See images.
Has a front tow line you unclip to pull along shore to bypass beaver dams etc like Bantam river.. you can sail across lake or back without paddling depends on wind. I have sailed cmpletely accross Bantam lake and paddled back.even Candlewood.
Having a rudder also keeps you on track with less paddling compared to those who don’t.
Has extra safety reflective decals and I have added drain plug as they don’t come with drain plugs,located on the side, lay and tip on center to drain without having to carry/lift up an upper end to drain.
