A local hobbyist would love to metal detect your lawn/ garden/ woods for the fun of finding old items of interest. Sites are getting increasingly harder for find as many public places have been heavily hunted.
Looking for: Older homes, or older home sites, or vacant land or even recently cleared land for new construction, farm fields to include the un-farmed edges of the field and old stone foundations or root cellars.
About Me: I am an adult hobbiest, 50 years young and work full time as a mechanical engineer. Ive been metal detecting for nearly 30 years and still enjoy it. I love to find old artifacts for my collections. I will treat your property with the utmost respect as if it was our own land. I will also abide by any rules that you stipulate, where to detect and not to, parking, times to detect, etc. I will always be professional and dress in a presentable manner. I hunt not for profit, just for collecting sake. I recycle all the scrap aluminum, etc.
What I look for: I hunt for relics made of metal. This primarily includes non-ferrous metals. It can include old toys, fasteners such as buttons/ buckles, coins, etc.
How the items are removed: Typically detected items are within 6 inches of the surface and are removed by cutting a flap and hinging it up to remove the item. This technique maintains root connection to the main lawn. Generally the cut is about 3" in size and most times the item can be recovered using a bladed tool. Wooded areas i use an army shovel to excavate and return the soil back to level.
About the items: Im happy to show you any and all finds made... sometimes there is an abundance of items, sometimes not. You just never know until you try.
If you have an old property, farm, or land that you wouldn't mind me detecting on, please send me an email. You would be surprised what is buried in the ground that you don't even know is there.
