I purchased two of theses from the cable company on 3-2013 and have been serving me well since then, connected to my Hydra 4 power filter, surge, and distribution units. See adds for such.
These cords are in excellent shape showing some rub markings on the soft rubber outer jackets from contact with equipment stand legs. No smoke or other nasty odor exposures.
These appear to have been removed from a nuclear reactor as they are quite robust at 10 AWG. Despite using other Shunyata cords (as well as Audience, Audioquest, and Cardas) up the line (and price) these were my keepers for the Hydra combination.

VTX refers to Shunyata's proprietary Virtual Tube Geometry. VTX eliminates the thick, muffled sound of larger gauge cables while still offering outstanding conductivity and bass weight. VTX is created by weaving stranded conductors into a hollow tube leaving the center of the conductor empty. Shunyata's theory is that VTX speeds up energy transfer, whether that's true or not, the sonic effect is pretty astonishing. Compared to other Shunyata cables of similar gauge (e.g. Copperhead, Venom HC etc) the Hydra HC is simply more open, more resolving, more dynamic, less compressed and more energetic."
