Originally they were half size chafing dish pans for round chafing dishes. Heavy gauge stainless...much heavier than the typical hotel pan gauge. Has plenty of different uses beyond chafing dishes. I use two of these for dog food and water bowls because of the straight side pushes up closer to the wall and don't get in the walking space as much. They measure 14" x 9.5" by 3" deep. Only $5 each. I have 5, take all 5 for $20.

Although I am in Middlefield, about halfway between Harford and New Haven only about 5 minutes off I-91 Exit 20, I also have the opportunity to meet people each weekday afternoon (September-June) on the Hartford/West Hartford line.
