Custom designed clear lexan food safe polycarbonate 12 qt./3 gal. buckets (Cambro) with commerical lid. Each bucket hangs onto a 5/16" hookless tree saver spout to collect the maple sap. I was not at all happy with the options for collecting the sap. I wanted clear so I could see quickly from far away if i needed to dump the sap from the buckets into a larger storage container for boiling day. Some days it runs much faster than others. I also wanted a large enough capacity (3 gal/12 qt. buckets that I would not have to collect too often. I wanted the bucket to be able to hang on the tree to keep buckets off the ground. I wanted everything to be easy to clean and reusable especially after I saw how much money other maple friends were spending on sap sacks that were so hard to clean they just threw them away afterwards. If you are bored from Valentines day onward to spring, this is such a rewarding hobby, especially if you have children you need to have more outdoor experiences.
For $20 you will get the 3 gal/12 qt. clear container, lid, and the spout. I have only five of these bucket and tap sets left. If the sugar maple tree is large enough, they can handle more than one tap.

Although I am in Middlefield, about halfway between Harford and New Haven only about 5 minutes off I-91 Exit 20, I also have the opportunity to meet people each weekday afternoon (September-June) on the Hartford/West Hartford line.
