Looking for a singer to start one of three possible projects. I'm all about supporting the singer, so it makes sense to start the project around you.
The first could be a revival of a garage band I was in for about 15 years, which was covering stuff like the sonics, the fuzztones, things off the nuggets compilation. I played lead guitar in that band and accentuated the proto-punk and proto-metal aspects of this historical genre. I may still have a connection with a guy from that band who would jump back in.
The second could be a revival of a stoner rock/metal band I ran for a few years quite a while ago. Fu Manchu, Orange Goblin, Kyuss, Sabbath - it's easy to start with some covers, get on the same page, and then perhaps add some writing into the mix.
The third could be a cover band, 70's hard rock, there's a lot of songs I like that are filled with killer riffs. This would not be "you gotta play what people want to hear" it would be what we want to play for ourselves. For example, I wouldn't necessarily play Paranoid, but I would play Killing Yourself to Live. I wouldn't play Black Dog, but I would play The Rover. I've been in strictly original bands for many years now, so I do think this would be a lot of fun and would take me back to my own roots.
What I want to do is jam/practice on Friday nights. Could be almost every Friday night or every other. I'm just looking to rock out, enjoy a couple beers, and have fun. I work hard all week, so this is my Friday night stress release. I can put the band into some gigs, which I like to do but that's not the most important aspect to me. I can record and I like to do that, but I don't care about publishing on social media. I don't care about likes, following, fans, becoming a rock star. If you care about these things, cool, I won't have a problem with it.
I'm in my 50's, decades of pro level experience on both guitar and bass, and have a fully equipped jam room. If I had a singer and a direction, we could go from there to assemble the rest of the musicians.
