Item was purchased in the late 1990s and saw limited use.
Item has been in storage in conditioned space for the last 20+ years.
As best I can determine, the device is still fully functional.
- The unit and monitor power up normally and no fault messages or codes were seen.
- All keys on the keyboard appear to function.
- The paper feed functions.
- Existing files on a disk can be read, new files can be written to the disk and then reopened.
- The monitor functions. (The yellow bands in the photos are a function of the camera.)
- The item attempts to print files, advancing the paper as it proceeds, but no print is visible as the ink cartridge has probably dried out.
- A Canon BC-01 ink cartridge was found in the unit. Canon BC-01 and BC-02 cartridges are generally listed as compatible replacements for the Brother IN-10 listed the WP-7000J users guide and appear to still be available on the market as both new (or new old stock?) and remanufactured cartridges.
The onboard software includes a word processing program (.wpt format), a simple spreadsheet program (.spr format), an addressbook function, an auto letter layout function, a Desk Top Reference (including a user editable dictionary), a template function and file management function.
