CENTRAL CONNECTICUT COMMUNICATIONS, publisher of The Bristol Press and New Britain Herald, is looking for a FULL-TIME editorial assistant / marketing coordinator to join our team in downtown Bristol.
In this position you will provide the first face for our customers coming through the door, answer phone calls, work on office tasks and write and edit for our publications. Your responsibilities will be varied, and flexibility is a must. You will need to be able to work well with people, resolve inquiries as much as possible and direct them when necessary. You will back up our managing editor on editorial tasks. We expect you to grow in the job and take on bigger roles as you earn them. Requirements for the job include a working knowledge of Excel and Word (Powerpoint would help, too); flexibility in dealing with a constantly changing environment; good people skills; the ability to write and edit; dependability and the willingness to focus on the job at hand and work hard to get it done. You will be expected to fill in for other office staff members when necessary, so picking up additional skills is important.
A college degree is preferred, although technical training and experience will be considered. Ability to speak/write Polish or Spanish is not required, but would be a plus.
This is a full-time, 40-hour position, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Flexibility to work other hours would be helpful, and sometimes necessary, depending on news requirements.
